Today I would like to ask the question, “Why Natural Organic Whole Foods?” In a tight economy why would someone what to spend more money on natural organic whole foods when the alternatives are cheaper. First of all, natural organic whole foods don’t have to be more expensive. You can see my posts on 3 Money Saving Tips for Natural Organic Whole Foods Purchases, and second of all, the long term effects on your body from the foods you eat and the way you live certainly need to be considered.

An analogy on this subject of natural organic whole foods can be drawn from the vehicles we drive. Gas is getting more expensive these days, so should we still put good quality gas in our cars? Well why don’t we just water down the gas a bit with some water? The water can be found for free and it shouldn’t effect the car that much. Now it depends on the car, and some will work ok with some water in the gas. I mean they’ll sputter and choke some, but will keep on going.

That is sort of how it is with our bodies. You don’t’ have to eat natural organic whole foods to survive, but your body will certainly run better on good fuel. Only with your body with pesticides and preservatives ad up the medical bills are a bit more than a trip to the mechanic. At the same time if you use your body up, your health goes and your body dies. One of the things we have found with our modern life is that although we can extend life with drugs, the quality of that life really isn’t that good in a lot of cases. Eating right now, including natural organic whole foods choices will make all the difference in the quality of your life down the road.

I would love to hear your thoughts on why you choose to eat natural organic whole foods. Leave your comments below and let me know.

Stress seems to be on the rise, even among those of us in the natural organic whole foods community. Bad news is so prevalent that I understand that the entertainment industry is booming. Why would this be? Everyone seems to want to get their mind off all the negative pressing issues, including the fear that they will personally have difficult financial times soon. Most of us actually have the same amount of money personally that we had last year, but the economic stress from the outside is such a burden, even among some practitioners of natural organic whole foods lifestyle, that we want to escape in whatever way we can.

Stress Buster Number 1 – Meditation & Refocusing Energy

Meditation and refocusing our energy is probably the best natural remedy for this situation we find ourselves in. The natural organic whole foods solution includes herbs and healthy eating, but even more important is what we talk about and what we listen to. We must refocus and stop talking about a crisis that is not a crisis. We must focus on what is right and who is doing right. Certainly bad news will force us down. The bad press must be turned off. Have some discipline and turn it off.

Stress Buster Number 2 – Regular Exercise

It has been shown over and over again that physical activity can be one of the very best ways to overcome anxiety and worry, the chief elements in what we call stress. The natural organic whole foods community has always supported being active in your lifestyle. Find something you enjoy and get out there and make time for it everyday. Everything from walking to gardening will help reduce stress.

Stress Buster Number 3 – Research and Include Herbs in your diet.

A quick internet search revealed a short list of herbs that can be helpful. Most natural organic whole food solutions take time, and I would recommend using a particular herb for months to achieve optimal results. I am sure that you can spend more time and even find more natural organic and whole food remedies for stress. Here is what I found:

Valerian : Valerian keeps the nervous system from being overwhelmed. Helps to aid sleep a common side effect of increased stress.
Hops : Helps to ease nervousness, restlessness and stress. Also decreases the desire for alcohol.
Chamomile : Chamomile is a gentle relaxant and a good nerve tonic aiding herbal stress relief.
Catnip : Catnip is an effective herbal remedy for stress that calms and reduces anxiety.

Finally, remember that you can’t overcome stress by running away from real life, but if you deal with stress responsibly you will become an over comer this is the type of thinking that the natural organic whole foods lifestyle promises if you embrace healthy thinking.

Let me know what you do to reduce stress. Your comments and suggestions will be appreciated. Any natural organic whole food ideas that have to do with reducing stress would be great comments to. Thanks for your comments and thoughts.

When it comes to healthy believing those of us who eat natural organic whole foods can learn a lesson from a story my mom used to tell about getting up on top of the garage at my grandfather’s house when she was a little girl and trying to fly with some card board wings she had made and fastened to her arms. Instead of flying like a bird, she was rewarded by hitting the ground with a sudden, hard thud. She observed that there is not necessarily a correlation between having wings and being able to fly.

It is also a false premise to believe that having all your meals prepared with natural, organic, whole foods is the key to success in life. In order to be a success in the natural, organic, whole foods arena of life we must first be right with our creator. Healthy believing is required. We must be right with the God who made all that there is and the one who will demand an account of everyone He has made. If we are not right with Him, then we can not be right at all. To be a success we need to be right with our creator. If we are the best stewards of our health and we feed and protect our bodies the best we are able with natural, organic and whole foods then we are partly right we must search further.

The search for healthy believing is a journey that begins with a simple prayer, it goes something like this.

Lord God, creator of heaven and earth, I sense that I am wrong and not right with you. Show me your way and make me right with you. Amen.

Pray daily with honest sincere words. Now, watch and in time He will show you what to do. It will be interesting to see what God’s natural, organic, whole foods life will be like for you. True and lasting success awaits, but be ready for a real challenge. The best things in life, including healthy believing and eating natural, organic, whole foods, may be simple, but they are not always easy.

I was helping one of our neighbor boys the other day with some training, helping our neighbors sons is something we do in the natural, organic, whole foods lifestyle community. The more you give the more you are really practicing “healthy living”. After I had finished I began talking to his mother and she was discussing how happy she was to be getting a divorce form her son’s dad. Something I wish we didn’t do in the natural, organic, whole foods community. (I am not saying that there is never a situation where divorce is not required, but that divorce is used too often (even among natural organic whole foods enthusiasts) when working out problem relationships is a much healthier choice for everyone.) “After 25+ years there wasn’t anything worth saving.” she said. I could see that she was very determined to end her marriage and so, while she was speaking, I watched her son to see how he was reacting to this. He hated it and it was obvious to everyone but his mother. I could see that his mom and dad’s divorce was tearing him up. This was not healthy living for him. She, on the other hand, couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t seeing the benefit of all this.

When it comes to healthy living in the natural, organic, whole foods community then eating is not the start and finish to this lifestyle. How we think, live and believe in everyday practical ways should also be considered, which is why the Harvest Source Whole Foods Journal includes sections on Healthy Living, Healthy Thinking and Healthy Believing in addition to Healthy Eating. Of course, everyone I talk to is always speaking of commitment to the natural, organic and whole foods way of life but what good is that if our relationships are in the trash can. If our body is good and emotions are a wreck how can this be healthy? Let me know your thoughts on divorce as it relates to Healthy Living by posting a comment below.

According to a recent press release by the Organic Trade Association, U.S. sales of organic products, both food and non-food, reached $24.6 billion by the end of 2008, growing an impressive 17.1% over 2007 sales despite tough economic times.

While the overall economy has been losing ground, sales of organic products reflect very strong growth during 2008. “Organic products represent value to consumers, who have shown continued resilience in seeking out these products,” said Christine Bushway, OTA’s Executive Director.

We can verify that this trend continues here in 2009 by looking at our how well Azure Standard sales have been though the Utah and South Idaho route. Every year for the past 5 years more and more people have discovered that buying natural organic whole foods makes sense both for our health and our pocket book.

Organic foods keep our families healthy and keep us away from the expensive doctors and dentists that are happy to take a big chunk of most families monthly income. See Michelle Stewart’s article on Healthy Living in the spring issue of the Harvest Source Whole Foods Journal, and I believe you will be convinced.

All you have to do is go to the home page www.HarvestSource.com and fill out your name and e-mail and after you confirm you will be e-mailed the link to the digital version of the magazine. Or if you are a www.AzureDelivery.com customer make sure you ask for a magazine when you go pick up your Azure Standard order this month.

Please share your thoughts on this U-Tube video below by pressing the comment button below.

It would seem to us in Utah and South Idaho that our local government understands our communities’ food storage goals and how natural organic whole foods fit into this plan. So one would hope something like this would never happen here, but how much can we trust our government who will perform a raid like this over the question of licenses?

Watching this video makes me wonder if we should be concerned about what policy makers in Washington D.C. might try to do to control organic farming and distribution. How is the current administration going to effect natural organic and whole foods? Could something like this happen to our friends at www.AzureDelivery.com? We have no idea what the future holds, but if anything I would hope this video helps us all to realize how important our food purchases can be.

This reminds me that we should always keep our pantries stocked as effectively as we can afford to because we never know when the supply we count on could be shut down for some reason. All of the members of the Manna Storehouse effected by the video above have lost their source for natural organic whole foods for more than 5 months now, and who knows how long the court case will last or when or if they will get their food stores back, or be compensated for the damages caused.

As for me I’m going to go and make sure boost up my May order for organic food storage products from Azure Standard.

A special thanks to Dr. Mercola, at www.mercola.com for making me aware of this video. Again I would like to hear what you think, click the comment link below.

...one of the things that got my attention recently was the idea that many people are every year eating the best healthy vine ripened produce and aren’t paying anything for it. Yes that’s right they get it for FREE! All they have to do is the work required to grow the vegetables in their own back yard or even on a small patio in pots many things like tomatoes for example do very well. Some of these people have been doing this for more years than the natural organic whole foods "industry" has even existed...

One of the comments that I hear all the time when I tell people that I am associated with a magazine in the Natural Organic Whole Foods Industry is “I would like to do that but organic foods are just so expensive” Yes, foods grown organically can be expensive when you simply compare one apple to the next, but if you consider all of the costs involved in eating unhealthy foods, natural organic whole foods are pretty cheap next to medical bills.

But one of the things that got my attention recently was the idea that many people are every year eating the best healthy vine ripened produce and aren’t paying anything for it. Yes that’s right they get it for FREE! All they have to do is the work required to grow the vegetables in their own back yard or even on a small patio in pots many things like tomatoes for example do very well. Some of these people have been doing this for more years than the natural organic whole foods “industry” has even existed.

With a little bit of TLC you can take a package of seeds that costs a few pennies or a hot house start and turn it into hundreds of pounds of fresh food. Not only is the cost nearly nothing, the taste is so much better that many have grown their own vegetable gardens for generations only because the food tastes so much better. You don’t have to worry about where the vegetables came from or who else has handled them either, because you will know how truly organic your food really is.

Organic gardening may not be for everyone, but there certainly are ways to deal with the challenges of growing your own vegetables without using poisons and various other dangerous chemicals. The food tastes better and everything is so much better for you. For more information about doing this yourself, the NOW Foods Institute has a whole bunch of videos and other information for their members that you may find helpful. You can consider there educational resources at www.nowfoodsinstitute.com.

The Natural, Organic, Whole Foods industry needs something like the UL. If this doesn’t happen in the natural, organic, whole foods industry very soon we are headed for serious trouble.

The Natural, Organic, Whole Foods industry needs something like the UL. If this doesn’t happen in the natural, organic, whole foods industry very soon we are headed for serious trouble.

For those who are unfamiliar with the UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) it is a private business that specializes in testing and qualifying products and equipment in the private sector. The buying public has grown to rely on this service. For example if you produce a product and wish for your product to be approved by UL you must submit and pass the UL standard. The UL stamp of approval is highly coveted and means it meets a very high quality requirement. The UL approval is more desired than government approval and means something much better to those who are ranked as an approve product submission. Let us suppose we had a natural, organic, whole foods underwriter seal of approval (NOWFU) this would be self regulation.

Returning to the UL, if you design and build a product and choose not to pay for the UL testing you are not made into a criminal for not doing so. The natural, organic, whole foods (NOWFU) could do the same. By contrast you will undoubtedly be severely chastised if mandated FDA involvement were “required” and you did not kiss their shoe of submission. On the other hand when it comes to the UL, the customer is the final authority and many shoppers won’t buy a product unless it has the UL label on it and we see the UL label on products every day. These are good products built with high standards but there is no threat, banishment, jail or fines if you do not have one. Your only punishment may be that you do not enjoy as much business as you would like. Imagine having something like this in the natural, organic, whole foods industry. This could clean up the business without any government regulation.

We must observe that private persons and private enterprise is better at regulating itself. We must study and apply this principle to the natural, organic and whole food business because if more layers of government are added the result is less responsibility by the citizenry and lower quality of service by government. The reason for this is that when government regulations are imposed people stop looking to be responsible for themselves because they perceive that someone else who is more qualified is doing that for them. Nothing could be further from the truth in which case we are suffering under a self imposed deception on a national basis. There are a few want-to-be natural, organic, whole foods business that could be improved by this type of self imposed commercial regulation. Government regulations are designed to eliminate competition and create monopoly not protect anyone as we have seen. What we need is more companies and more competition in the natural, organic, and whole foods industry to cause prices and product to be more competitive.

Competition is, by its very nature, self regulating where monopoly is not. Test this for yourself the next time you want to know something about a product or service. Do this in the natural, organic, whole foods business or the furniture business. All you have to do is ask two competing companies to evaluate the other companies product or service and they will explain all about their benefits and point out all the defects of the competition. On the other hand if only one company made a product you wanted (monopoly) then the product or service would be described by its maker as the best, safest and the most perfect product to meet all needs when in fact much more may be desired. When there is no competition there will be no “better mouse trap” or better natural, organic, whole foods.

Applying this to the natural, organic, whole foods industry, we must observe that the FDA will disallow our claims and claiming for itself “perfection” by its own authority. Therefore natural, organic, whole foods are declared to be bad by the FDA because they are “not tested and approved” to be good. It doesn’t mater that the use of nutrients and supplements or organic, natural or whole foods will not interfere with most prescription drugs. In fact nutrients and supplements will often times reduce the number of side effects and improve bodily function. It doesn’t mater because it is not about healthy it is about control and monopoly and protecting monster business that does not need protecting.

Hi there,

Darrell here welcoming you to our new magazine blog, especially for those of us interested in natural organic and whole foods.

We will be adding new tips, news items, little known secrets, recipes, and real life experiences every chance we get. Our goal is to post on this blog everyday, but we will see how that goes. I would like you to come back often to see what is here and your input will have an impact on the future of this magazine.

We recently did a consumer survey to find out what the Natural Organic and Whole Foods customer wanted. Among other things we learned that those of us that buy natural, organic and whole foods want an inexpensive way to be informed, educated, included and connected to others who have their mutual Organic foods interests. That is our goal with the Harvest Source Whole Foods Journal magazine.

How would you like to get this magazine, for a full year for FREE? I feel that our cover price of only $5.95 per issue is quite fair to learn from experts how to live a healthier life through, healthy eating, thinking and believing. However, we understand times are tough for a lot of people and you might not want to spend $23.80 a year right now.

So I’ve got a deal that everyone who buys organic can certainly afford.

FREE!

Yes that’s right, I’m giving away a full year’s subscription, mailed right to your door, to everyone who signs up now. Now there is a limit to how many of these I can give away for free, so I encourage you to go to www.harvestsource.com/subscribe immediately and request your free year subscription, a $23.80 value.

P.S. If you are a natural organic and whole foods buyer and you want the magazine, you can also call 866-233-1120 or fill out the enclosed postcard to receive this magazine delivered right to you for FREE.

P.S.S. My editor’s desk door is always open. If you have any thoughts, comments, suggestions or even stories for me, please send me an e-mail or drop me a note in the mail and I’ll consider everything you send my way, the good, the bad and the ugly.
