For a long time I felt that all the talk about natural organic whole foods was hype. That it wasn’t really that big of a deal. Just eat a reasonably healthy diet and you’ll be fine. I guess looking at my picture, (which you can see if you follow me on twitter) you’ll see that using this idea of not being careful about what and how much I eat, not considering natural organic whole foods, I have become overweight, and there are digestive problems that I’ve had to deal with as well.

Would eating primarily natural organic whole foods have changed this? I am becoming convinced that the answer is certainly, YES! The reason is two fold. First of all there are so many chemicals used in food production today that cause a wide range of trouble for our bodies. For example I recently read an article that while many dangerous pesticides like DDT have been banned for use in our country since the year I was born (1972) most American’s still get DDT into their systems by eating vegetables from our grocery stores. This seems incredible until you consider that a lot of vegetables are grown outside the country and shipped in so we have a lot of variety year round. In other countries there are no bans against these chemicals and they are still used. We are then slowly poisoned and our bodies actually show signs of early aging because of the stress these chemicals can cause our bodies to have to deal with all the time. A diet that primarily consists of natural organic whole foods, avoids this poisoning.

Also there are many vitamins and minerals that we need in our bodies to maintain a healthy and active life. These are found in much higher quantities in food that you grow organically and naturally in your back yard. Locally grown natural organic whole foods, definitely seem to be an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

Let me know what you think about this, by posting a comment to this blog post below. I would like to hear your opinion on this question. Do you think natural organic whole foods are really healthier and better for you?

To your Health,
