I have been hearing a lot about swine flu, bird flu or influenza pandemic concerns for the last few years. The last few weeks Swine Flu seems to be the buzz disease to talk about. A few years ago it was Bird Flu. I have mostly disregarded these concerns until a friend told me that he heard that the real problem will happen in the Fall of 2009. Swine Flu, Bird Flu and Influenza Pandemics don’t seem to bother me much because I figured they were just all hype
Just to prove my point I did some research and was shocked to learn that I was wrong! There really is some reason to be concerned. Swine Flu is closely related to the Influenza Pandemic flu of 1918 that killed millions of people. I thought such dangerous flu bugs were a thing of the past. It turns out our government has spent 3.3 Billion dollars over the past few years preparing for what the secretary of the U.S. Health & Homeland Security claims that an influenza pandemic is unavoidable. That people would actually be dying in large numbers because of the flu still seems like an unrealistic claim, but my research revealed differently.
