As you know I am always on the look out for natural organic whole foods that are what I call ‘healing foods’. These are the types of natural organic whole foods that promote healing and reversal of various diseases or health challenges.
Today I would like to share with you something that I have recently read and am now investigating. There is a fiber that is derived from the Konjac Root, known for centuries in Asia. The plant is native to Japan and China and has been used for centuries by women to maintain a healthy weight.
Konjac Root’s main component is called Glucomannan, and my initial research indicates that this root is a water soluble starch and has the effect of helping people to loose weight (it can swell up to 17 times in water) because it helps maintain a “full” feeling. Also various studies show that this konjac root has been effective in reducing bad cholesterol while increasing good cholesterol. Also Konjac Root seems to have the effect of helping regulate blood sugar levels. Both low blood sugar and high blood sugar conditions have been dramatically improved. In one place I read of a type two diabetic who was able to get completely off insulin and eat normally because of using Konjac Root!
Now at this point I don’t have enough information to claim that this Konjac Root is a natural organic whole foods miracle, but it certainly is worth learning more about. I have ordered some of the flour made from the Konjac Root and will begin doing some experimentation myself. I’ll let you know the results.
In the mean time I would appreciate your comments and letting me know what other ‘healing foods’ you know about in particular foods that are natural organic whole foods that heal. Also whatever you know about Konjac Root in your comments below would be appreciated.
To your Health,
Warren Ross
